The 1st Franco-Brazilian Carbon Meeting will be held in Bordeaux on July 11th and 12th, 2009, before the CARBON 2009 Conference.

This meeting is a initiative of the Brazilian Carbon Association (ABCarb) and the French Carbon Group (GFC), and its objective is to identify research and development projects of interest for both countries.

The event will include presentations from French and Brazilian researchers about work being done in both countries, in the the following areas:

• - Coke, pitch and graphite;
• - Carbon composite materials;
• - Activated carbons;
• - Carbon nanomaterials.

Researchers interested in attending the event should obtain the necessary funding for travel expenses, as ABCarb will not be able to provide financial support. There will be no registration fees.

The meeting's program will be jointly assembled by ABCarb and GFC. ABCarb members willing to participate should contact ABCarb as registration will only be possible through the Association.
